August 3rd 1996 in the family reunion in Kangasala was agreed to create a family book introducing Joutsiniemi family. As an objective of the family book was agreed not only verbal introduction of over 18-years-old relatives but also more vesratile introduction with images. The family book was successful and information was estimated to be very comprehensive.
All family members had the possibility to tell themselves in a personal style. Editors of the family book respected without changing personal introductions written by relatives. An intention of the family book commitee was with co-operation to have a more interesting and lifelike family book than typical implementations.

The family book was called Joutsiniemen suku (Joutsiniemi-family) and soon after publishing the book was started to call simply family book.
In the family reunion year 2009 organizing committee created a supplement which replenish the family book with new information come available after its publishing. The supplement is a separate appendix to the family book. At the same time organzing committee proposed transferring the family book to electronic format and a solution to maintaining information up-to-date more easily. This is how an idea of publisihing the family website in the Internet was born. The wbsite team was nominated for the website planning and work was started.
In year 2012 in the family reunioin in Katistenkartano the website team introduced proposal for look and feel of the website and principles to be obeyed in the development. The reunion approved the proposal and agreed to start the development. The family website was opened September 29.2013.
The major goal of the website is to offer relatives easy to use services for independent maintenance of family book information and assertain comprehensive and up-to-date information. Other objective is functioning as an archive of family history and events and offer easy-to-use chanel for co-opeartion and communication between relatives.
